Derby City Sport Forum held the first of two planned Sport England ‘Club Matters’ workshops on Wednesday 19th February. It was great to have members along from Rolls Royce RFC, 24 Fit, Derbyshire Cricket Board, Littleover Dazzlers FC, Darkstar Volleyball and of course Midland Canoe Club who very kindly hosted the evening.
The objective of the workshop, entitled ‘Club Experience’, was to support clubs in doing the most they can to ensure that their club is chosen over their competitors. It helped the participants to identify what existing and potential members want from their club, and gave new ideas and the tools required to deliver an amazing club experience.
Those who came along provided some really positive feedback and particularly enjoyed sharing ideas with others, as well as discussing the challenges which they face in running their individual clubs.
The Club Matters workshop series, which are provided free of charge by Sport England, cover a number of topics based on running a successful sports and activity club.
The next workshop is scheduled for April 28th and the topic is ‘Volunteer Experience’ and aims to provide clubs with top tips in recruiting, retaining and rewarding volunteers. Booking information to follow.
